Just found your blog! Thanks for the great ideas--I'm not from Stockton, but will be doing my on project locally. Zip ties are a great idea--will borrow that one. And the bees & flowers...we have a labyrinth garden here that I may have to bomb.
ReplyDeleteBombing a park was a lot of fun - there was no color in the park at all, no flowers or anything. It was kind of depressing to see. The middle of the park has a fountain, but there was no water in it.
ReplyDeleteA lot of the patterns we used were just off of Ravelry.com, but some were just made up as we stitched along.
Zip ties were good for us so we could securely attach items as rapidly as possible. We used fluorescent ties so they could be located and removed by whoever took them down.

I love it! I also read about this on Mike's blog --- I have never heard of yarnbombing. Now I REALLY wish I could knit, or even crochet, but alas....two left hands. : ( Keep it up! Stockton can use a few more smiles!
ReplyDeleteWe've been wanting to do this for a while; once we learned about International Yarn Bombing Day, we realized we just had to participate!
ReplyDeleteCrochet is really easy to learn - so is knitting, it just looks hard! YouTube is a good source of learning, believe it or not.
One of us is recuperating from a shoulder injury and knitting or crocheting for long periods of time is painful, so she made about 30 "pom-bombs" to go on meters, trees, etc. She also made the cherries and the flagpole wrap.
Our next project will be good for practicing crochet or knit stitches... :)
